Where the combined arrangement is not suitable, R.I.K. supplies the clutch and brake separately, as a matched pair: a multi-disc pneumatic clutch that engages when air pressure is supplied, and a pneumatic safety brake that engages by spring when air pressure is removed. This keeps equipment from making an uncontrolled stop if power is lost.

The 5.W series combines pneumatic actuation with oil cooling, giving the response of a pneumatic clutch and the heat capacity of a hydraulic clutch. Used for high-frequency maneuver cycles, where dissipating heat quickly is the limiting factor.

Goizper Electromagnetic Clutch and Brake
These clutches and brakes are electrically ‘actuated’. When current reaches the coil, the magnetic flux pulls the armature to the face of the clutch or brake, squeezing the inner and outer friction discs together.
Multi-Disc Electromagnetic Clutch and Brake
The magnetic body is fitted on the drive shaft, in continuous rotation, so it doesn’t add inertia to the moving parts on each manoeuvre and doesn’t need current applied to a resting collector on every start, which can spark, especially in oil-bath use. The sintered discs work either dry or in an oil bath.
